IN THE KITCHEN
By Michael Coles and Basil Lord
From the book Access to English
What’s Mrs. Harrison like? Well, she isn’t a young woman and she isn’t thin. She is quite old, and rather fat.
There is a long table in the kitchen, with two chairs, and there’s a cupboard on the wall.
There’s a cat under the table. What colour is it? It’s black and white. It isn’t beautiful. It’s an ugly cat, with a short tail. Is there a fish on the table? No, there isn’t. Is there a fish under the table with the cat? Yes, there is. The cat is happy.
There are two cups and two saucers on the table. There’s a milkjug and a teapot near the cups. There’s a plate on the table and there are four biscuits on the plate.
Where’s Arthur? Is he in the kitchen? No, he isn’t. He’s in the bathroom.
QUESTION: WHAT IS THE CAT LIKE?
